Gorgeous little Family Photography Shropshire Shoot – Fay, Dan + Freddie

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting these lovely people to carry out their family photography Shropshire Shoot. Fay loved the photos that I had done for various other families when I did the Mini Shoots back in November up at Colemere Nature Reserve.

I love a family photography shoot in the autumn / winter. Simply because of all the colourful knits and layers you can wear. Fay, Dan and little Freddie rocked it! I really enjoy photographing up at Colemere because of the variety of backdrops you can have. There is the Mere itself, open fields, the Shropshire Union Canal with a bridge crossing (- which I would love to explore sometime on a family walk with the kids and dogs too!), lots of fabulous trees which are great colours all through the year!

My approach to Family Photography

if you did not know, I have three kids of my own. I know what they can be like! My approach on all my shoots is  to let the kids guide you and the shoot. If they want to explore I am happy with that (and I hope parents are too!) This way I think their character comes out more, they are relaxed and comfortable. That in a nutshell is what I want to photograph. Of course I enjoy getting the photo of everyone together looking at the camera but I LOVE coming away from a shoot thinking, well WOW I was not expecting to be photographing that today! The unknown is absolutely great and love parents having that same feeling.On delivery of the photos, it is just the best surprise ever!

So that is how this shoot happened that day especially with Freddie. Being a baby and being outdoors in the cold. I  simply let Freddie guide us until he had enough, which he lasted for around an hour until he decided he was ready for a power nap!  I think actually lead us to some super cute photos of him asleep and also to capture a bit more of Fay and Dan. Which as all couples with newborns and children know, us grown ups forget to get photos of ourselves together.
