A Romantic April Wedding at One of Cheshire’s Most Iconic Venues
Helen and Anthony’s April wedding at Combermere Abbey was the perfect celebration of spring romance, elegant architecture, and relaxed countryside luxury. Set in the heart of the Cheshire/Shropshire border, near Whitchurch, Combermere Abbey offers endless photographic opportunities, and their day made full use of everything this stunning venue has to offer — from the historic cottages to the Glasshouse, Pavilion, gardens, abbey, and lake.
As a Combermere Abbey wedding photographer, this day was an absolute dream to capture, along with such an incredible couple.

Bridal & Groom Preparations at Combermere Abbey
The morning of Helen and Anthony’s wedding began quietly and calmly across the estate.
Groom Preparations – Stone Lodge Cottage
Anthony and the groomsmen got ready in the Stone Lodge Cottage, a beautiful building by the main gate of Combermere Abbey grounds. With its characterful interiors, natural light, and relaxed atmosphere, it’s an ideal location for groom preparations and those all-important pre-ceremony moments.
The Stone Lodge is perfect for candid storytelling — from final buttoning of jackets to a quick drink in the garden together before heading down to the Pavilion and to the ceremony in the Glasshouse.

Bridal Preparations – Keeper’s Cottage
Helen got ready in the charming Keeper’s Cottage, one of Combermere Abbey’s most popular bridal prep locations. The cottage offers soft, flattering light, neutral tones, and plenty of space for bridal details, hair and makeup, and emotional moments with family.
Helen’s morning was filled with plenty of laughter, anticipation, and a calm excitement that set the tone beautifully for the rest of the day.

A Glasshouse Ceremony at Combermere Abbey
The ceremony took place in the iconic Glasshouse at Combermere Abbey — one of the most sought-after ceremony spaces.
Surrounded by panoramic windows and overlooking the maze, the Glasshouse is flooded with natural light, making it breathtaking both in person and in photographs. Helen and Anthony exchanged their own personal vows to each other in an intimate and emotional ceremony.
Glasshouse ceremonies at Combermere Abbey are perfect for couples who want a modern yet timeless feel, whatever the weather.

Pavilion Reception Celebrations
Following the ceremony, and confetti outside of the Glasshouse, guests made their way to The Pavilion for the wedding reception. The Pavilion offers a seamless blend of contemporary design and garden views, with plenty of space for dining, speeches, and evening celebrations.
Helen and Anthony’s reception was relaxed and joyful — filled with heartfelt speeches, laughter, and a real sense of togetherness. The Pavilion’s large windows and clean, elegant styling make it a dream setting for natural, documentary-style wedding photography.

Couples Portraits in the Gardens, Abbey & by the Lake
One of the highlights of Helen and Anthony’s wedding day was their couples portraits around the Combermere Abbey grounds.
We explored:
- The beautifully maintained gardens with the abundant blossom and the tree lined walk way down to the Courtyard Cottages
