Wedding Photographer FAQ
Wedding Photographer FAQ’s – Charlotte Giddings Photography
So this blog is far from rock and roll however I do deem it quite important for couples who do have questions about their wedding photography so here we go, wedding photographer FAQ’s!
How long have you been photographing weddings?
My camera has been with me since my travels to West Africa in 2006. A lovely Canon 1N film camera to be exact! I started my Photography degree in 2007 and my doors “officially” opened in 2009. Since then I have photographed over 150 weddings! I’ve photographed in different weather conditions, light conditions, venues, seasons, large and small weddings! So yes, you are in safe hands!
Do you work alone?
My wedding packages always include a second photographer as standard. This means we cover more of your day and tell your story better. I personally prefer working with a second shooter because it allows for greater coverage of the day. I photograph the bride and the girls and my experienced second shooter meets the groom and the boys.
If you’re having a smaller wedding and require a bespoke package I can offer this with or without a second photographer.
How do we book you to be our wedding photographer?
For your wedding, submit the contact form on my website, email me or call me so I can see if I have your date available. If I’m available, we’ll set up a date to meet or phone chat to discuss your wedding further. A £400 deposit and contract are required to secure your date and I work on a first come first serve basis with deposit and contract in hand.
How do you work on our wedding day?
Me and my second shooter will be working discreetly, not intrusive, enabling you and your guests to relax and feel comfortable on an extremely special day.
Are all the photographs edited?
After the wedding, I go through all the images we have both taken. The final selection of images you receive are all edited by me and to my highest standard and in my unique style. I do not as standard airbrush or manipulate images in photoshop. The majority of the images will be presented in colour and black and white also.
How will we know the photography schedule/timeline for the day?
Around one month before the wedding we can meet up or Skype/Facetime/chat on the phone. We will go through your wedding day in detail; timings, requested photos, family and bridal party members, suppliers etc. We will create a final timeline for the wedding day photography which me and my second shooter will go by. As we have discussed your day in detail, we will have no need to ask you questions on the day, we can work discreetly and you can enjoy your day!
What if I am ill/something terrible happens to me?
I promise I will try very hard not to be ill or die on or before your wedding day but sometimes these things are out of our control. I promise that only something very serious would keep me away from your wedding. In such an event I have a wonderful network of amazing photographer friends who I can call upon in an emergency and obviously my talented second shooter too on the day! (Phew! This has never happened, touching wood as I type this!)
Do we get the copyright to our photos?
All images are dual copyright between Charlotte Giddings Photography and you. This is explained in more detail in the contract between us. However, you are able to print, duplicate and copy your images freely. The photographs come supplied in a personalised USB and in two forms. In high resolution to print to the best quality and also a lower resolution enabling you to load photographs faster to social media and devices. It would be great if you used any photos on social media to put a credit: Charlotte Giddings Photography with a link to my site: www.charlottegiddingsphotography.co.uk
Can we purchase an album?
Yes course you can! I do an “all in” package including an album and USB along with your photographic coverage all day for £2200. By all means if you wanted to purchase an album after your wedding at a later date we can certainly work on that too! Parent albums can also be done with there own favourite photos in.
Do you have liability insurance? Are you covered?
Yes I am and along with public indemnity. This is really important for both parties. So whoever you book ensure they are covered!
How long do formals (family photographs) take on the wedding day and when is the best time to do them?
I try to keep wedding formals to 10 minutes so it does not eat in to too much of your wedding day, typically immediate family, usually after the service at the wedding reception.
How many weddings do you shoot a year?
I only book a limited number of weddings a year so that I can give the most of me to you! I shoot no more than 20-30 weddings a year.
What equipment do you use?
I’m a Canon girl all the way! In fact I am a Canon snob!. On a wedding day I will have at least two camera bodies with me. A range of lenses and a flashes as well as some other special gadgets. We always carry back up equipment with us to ensure we can carry on shooting even if something goes wrong. Collectively we have 4 cameras between us to ensure no moment is missed!
Do you include an engagement shoot?
You can add an engagement session to any of my wedding packages or book one completely separately. Some couple like to do one to experience what it is like to be behind the camera before their wedding day and also makes them feel more relaxed. Please click here to read a recent blog here of Sarah and Will
How many images will we receive?
For your wedding, approximately 600-800 of the best images (depending on package choice)
For your engagement, approximately 40-50 of the best images
For your portrait session, approximately 40-50 of the best images
** All images are artistically edited with my signature style**
Can our friends and family view our images online and order prints?
You bet! When the images are uploaded into the online gallery you will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to access the gallery. You can forward the e-mail or share the password with your friends and family so they can view your images and order prints/downloads.
Do we get to pick the images to go in our wedding album?
Of course you do! I will ask you once your images are fully edited and you have had chance to look at them, to pick out your favourite images. The 16”x12” album, which is included in the top package, holds around 100 images comfortably. There is the opportunity to add pages if you wish.
I pre-design the album with the images you select but nevertheless changes can be made. Nothing will go to print until you are happy with your album. I will help you create a timeless story, which will relive your wedding day time and time again!
What is your turnaround time for my images?
Wedding: 4-6 weeks
Engagement: 2-3 weeks
Portraits: 2-3 weeks
Albums: 6-8 weeks
What is the best way to contact you?
E-mail is definitely the best way to contact me because I travel frequently and many times I’m out of my office for sessions or meetings. However, if you call me and I don’t answer, leave a voicemail and I will return your call as soon as possible!
What are your office hours?
Monday-Friday from 10-6 (if not shooting a wedding that day)
Saturdays are typically reserved for weddings
Sundays are typically closed or reserved for weddings
