Catherine and Phil’s wedding at Combermere Abbey was nothing short of magical. Their journey began online during the Covid lockdowns, and when they discovered Combermere’s enchanting bluebell walks, they knew it was the perfect venue for their special day. With a stunning Catholic ceremony in Nantwich, a Birds of Prey experience, and an elegant floral theme of pinks and whites, their wedding was filled with meaningful details and unforgettable moments.

For couples searching for Combermere Abbey wedding inspiration, this beautifully curated celebration offers endless ideas—plus, I’ll share how we captured stunning moment through timeless wedding photography.

The Bluebells of Combermere Abbey

Catherine and Phil’s connection to Combermere Abbey started long before their wedding day. The couple fell in love with the estate’s bluebell walks, bluebells are her favourite and remind her of Phil. (Phil used to send photos of the bluebells to Catherine during lockdown) Naturally, we incorporated these bluebells into their pre-wedding photoshoot (click here to view) capturing their love story in one of Combermere’s most romantic settings.

These early springtime images from their pre-wedding shoot (click here) set the tone for their wedding photography, blending nature, history, and romance.

Bride & Groom Prep at Combermere Abbey

On the morning of the wedding, Catherine and her bridal party got ready in one of Combermere Abbey’s elegant bridal suites, in the Keeper’s Cottage while Phil and his groomsmen prepared in a separate space on the estate, in the Beckett Cottage. The venue’s luxurious setting provided the perfect backdrop for candid getting-ready moments, from final makeup touches to buttoning up the groom’s suit.

Catherine and the bridesmaids traveled in classic wedding cars, Phil and family and their guests travelled in vintage buses, a thoughtful and eco-conscious choice to limit the number of vehicles at the church.

A Traditional Catholic Ceremony in Nantwich

Catherine and Phil exchanged vows in a heartfelt Catholic ceremony at a church in Nantwich at St. Annes. The grandeur of the church, paired with the soft pink and white floral arrangements, created a timeless and elegant setting.

As the couple exited as husband and wife, their guests cheered them on and exchanged lots of hugs and excitement. We captured some stunning just-married portraits once we returned to Combermere Abbey for the celebrations.

Birds of Prey & Stunning Walled Garden Photos

One of the most unique elements of Catherine and Phil’s wedding was the Birds of Prey experience. As a passionate bird lover, Catherine incorporated this entertainment into their wedding day, allowing guests to interact with majestic birds.

For their couple’s portraits, we explored Combermere Abbey’s Walled Gardens, where blooming roses framed their love story beautifully. (End of May / Beginning of June is when they are at their best!)

A Stylish Reception with Neon Lights & Signature Drinks

The reception took place in Combermere Abbey’s stunning Pavilion, where a modern neon sign behind the top table added a contemporary and stylish touch to the classic décor. The elegant pink and white floral arrangements, designed by a local florist, classic books for the theme of their seating arrangements adorned the tables, enhancing the romantic atmosphere.

As the evening unfolded, guests were treated to an open rum bar, allowing them to craft their own signature drinks. The night started with a rehearsed and planned first dance and continued on a high note with an incredible DJ set, ensuring the dance floor stayed packed.
